Edmonton Martial Arts

Edmonton martial arts have many locations for students of all skill levels to receive training as well as many organizations that promote the culture and martial arts in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

One organization in particular is a non-profit group called the Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Arts, which specializes in contemporary martial arts, and the use of traditional Chinese weapons and dance.

Grand Master Stan Lee and his brother Dale Lee founded the Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Arts in 1992 when they opened up a club that soon gained a reputation for its Lion Dance and martial artists. This club can offer students training in traditional Chinese styles of Hung Gar, Wing Chun as well as extensive training with the traditional weapons of Chinese culture and the Lion Dance.

The new style that is being taught within the club is called Contemporary martial arts, and Sifu Dale Lee recently opened this class to the organization. All of the instructors at this Edmonton martial arts non-profit organization are volunteers that teach a variety of styles to students.

For students wishing to join Wing Chun or the contemporary martial art classes, the club is always accepting new students and for anyone wishing to learn Hung Gar, the enrollment times for this style is in March and October.

Any new students attending will be shown a basic warm-up and stances or bunches shown by either an advanced student or instructor during their first class. If a student is unsure which style they would like to learn, the organization allows one of a class in each style to determine which would be a better fit for you. Each of the instructors has valuable experience, as well at the expertise to share students of any level.

Students wishing to learn techniques and skills of weapons usually began at the intermediate level after learning movement and coordination. They are taught that the weapon is the extension of the body's skill, and the order of what weapon is learned is at the discretion of the instructor.

Finding this organization within Edmonton martial arts locations can be a great way to visit a nonprofit organization, as well learn new skills and physical techniques.
