Martial Arts Cane

You may not realize it, but a cane is much more than a balancing tool. As a matter of fact, a martial arts cane can be used for a number of different services.

For example, not only can you use such a cane for exercise, but for self-defense as well. There are many specific techniques that someone using a cane can utilize for self-defense. A cane is much more than a crutch and can be created into a perfectly adequate weapon by using a wide variety of materials and styles in order to create not only a thing of beauty, but a tool as well.

The great thing about a martial arts cane is that you don't need a permit to carry one like you do for other self-defense products. Canes are made of many different types of wood including oak, hickory, and even pine, though pine is a soft wood and might not be quite as suitable as other types of wood. It often seems as if the Asian culture has been able to adapt and use common objects as self-defense weapons for centuries. After all, whoever thought that a cane could become a deadly weapon in the hands of someone trained to use it? Using a martial arts cane can empower anyone, regardless of age or physical condition, with the knowledge that they are holding something in their hand that may serve to protect them in any dangerous or uncertain situation.

While most people may never need to use such a cane for self-defense, it's nice to know that you have a weapon in your hand that may very well save your life. Learning to use various techniques for self defense with a cane are very easy to learn. You don't have to be endowed with great muscular strength to wield a cane for self-defense. Learning how to swing one properly can make all the difference to provide a sense of security for both older people as well as those who are using a cane for medical reasons.

Most designs of martial arts cane uses are for balance or extra support, it is important to remember safety and security. If by some chance you need to use a cane on a daily basis, why not use that cane to its fullest capabilities and turn it into a self-defense weapon as well?
