Martial Arts Classifieds

Many people begin to look for specialized martial arts training through martial arts classifieds in newspapers and magazines. However, when using such a technique to find a class or instructor, or any of the wide number of martial arts styles available in your area, it is always a good idea to make sure that that instructor is certified to train students in any particular form.

When using the classifieds to find someone in your area that can instruct you, gather names, and then check the foundation of whatever sport you are interested in. For example, if you are looking for an instructor in Kenpo karate, check with the karate foundation, either in your country or internationally to see whether or not that instructor has been trained, certified, and is qualified to teach you.

While anyone can learn a few martial arts moves from their neighbor or friend, in order to earn a belt color or in order to compete in any competition venue, instruction must be gained from someone certified in that area. It doesn't matter where the you take classes from someone, whether in their garage or at a fancy location, but it is important that the person has the training and the patience to teach you proper form and technique so that you may be able to advance to different belt colors and levels or achieve the training you need to engage in both domestic and international competitions.

While martial arts classifieds may be found in local newspapers, it might be better to start your search by looking through the back of a magazine that specializes in some form of martial art or mixed martial arts. For example, there are magazines geared toward every martial art such as tae kwon do, karate, judo, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts. Depending on the form and style that you would like to learn, limit your search to instructors that offer specialized classes, either separately or in groups.

Learning a martial art takes time and patience, and in order to do it right, it is best to have an instructor teach you the proper form and technique so that you can advance correctly and learn to perform the moves in the best possible manner to achieve optimal results. Take your time when searching through martial arts classifieds and make sure that the person you choose to teach you how to defend yourself or how to compete in competition is fully certified and qualified to give you such instruction.
