Watch out for Martial Arts Kamas!

If you've never heard of martial arts Kamas, check this out. When many people think of martial arts, they think of Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan fighting with their hands or their feet. However, many people forget about the wide range of weapons that are available to martial arts experts. Nearly everyone has seen or heard of throwing stars, which are thin plates of metal shaped like stars that can be thrown over a relatively short distance. These stars can be deadly, as their points are extremely sharp.

Other common martial arts weapons, including swords, spears, and nun-chucks, can cause a lot of damage to an opponent. However, one of the most deadly looking weapons in hand-to-hand combat fighting is the martial art Kamas. Many of us have never seen one of these unique weapons and to describe them will be a bit of a challenge. Picture the Grim Reaper carrying his sickle. Kamas look similar to a sickle, except that it has a short handle that is perhaps 12 to 14 inches long, topped with a blade that looks very similar to the Reaper's sickle. Most blades on the top of the staff range from six to eight inches long. Martial arts Kamas blades are rather narrow and are shaped with a slight downward curve that is best used in hand-to-hand combat fighting with downward striking blows.

No doubt about it guys and gals, these are nasty weapons that can maim and injure like you wouldn't believe. There are many different types of martial arts Kamas, ranging from those that are made out of foam for practice as well as competition Kamas made out of stainless steel. While beginning students to any form of martial arts will not use such weapons until they have mastered the basics and perhaps reached a brown or black belt, such weapons are available for purchase on the Internet. Extreme care and caution should be used when practicing with these weapons, as they can be quite deadly and are nothing to joke around with. Much like never pointing a gun at someone, even if it is a pretend gun, martial arts students are taught never to use such weapons in aggression. While martial arts Kamas may look cool, they are certainly not a toy and should be respected for the weapon they are.
