Steven Seagal Martial Arts DVDs
Most people know martial arts actor Steven Seagal as a hard-hitting American actor who became popular in what are known generically as Stephen Seagal martial arts DVDs in the past two decades.
Seagal's career began in the mid-1980s with such martial arts films as Above the Law, Hard to Kill, Under Siege and others. While competing with his martial arts fighting peers such as Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Segal has built a name and reputation for himself in the martial arts world.
Seagal's martial arts specialty is aikido, which is constructed around using an opponent's body weight and movement to perform various chokes and holds that will incapacitate him or her. However, what has made Seagal a rather household name in the United States is his attitude and manner of dress. This is not to say that confidence and personal style is a bad thing, especially when it comes to someone as self-confident as Seagal. Preferring Italian clothing designers, and most especially all-black clothes, along with long black coats, Seagal has generated a unique following all his own. Steven Seagal martial arts DVDs are as popular today as they were a decade ago.
Despite Seagal's martial arts skills, he is most commonly known as "the guy with the ponytail". Many people, especially Americans oddly enough, are unaware that he is the first foreigner to own and operate an aikido dojo in Japan. However, Seagal's martial arts skills and success in that field don't seem to carry over in his personal life, as he has been married three times.
Steven Seagal martial arts DVDs and their residuals have earned more than $600 million around the world. In one interview, Seagal said that he would like to be known as a great writer and actor someday, rather than a sex symbol. While that may be easier said than done, Seagal states that the most important things that individuals should strive for is to always follow the path of least resistance without harming others.
As an interesting piece of trivia, viewers and fans may be interested to know that all of his main leading role movies have been rated R except for one. He is fluent in the Japanese language, is a vegetarian, and is a master in Japanese kendo. Steven Seagal martial arts DVDs provide viewers around the world with unlimited action films that are filled with compelling characters and plots that even sometimes generate thought and themes.
