Womens Martial Arts

Anyone who's seen womens martial arts performances knows that they are just as exciting and exhilarating to watch as when the guys climb into the ring.

For some reason, a lot of guys like to see women fighting. Of course the same can be said for a lot of women watching men fight. However, when it comes to mixed martial arts, pay for view fights and events that offer full contact sporting events have become immensely popular in the last few years.

Mixed martial arts combine many different fighting styles, from Brazilian ju-jitsu to kickboxing to elements of sumo wrestling. Striking and grappling techniques, as well as those adapted from karate or judo, and even tae kwon do are combined in a presentation that is truly awesome to watch. Especially gifted martial arts artists including women's martial arts professionals can truly astound with elements of Muay Thai, fancy footwork, deadly elbows, and various forms of punching and striking.

Women involved in women's mixed martial arts competitions are extremely serious about their skills and their competitive levels. You don't want to mess with these gals if you don't have to, because they can take down a 250-pound guy faster than you can say, "What did I say?" Many guys think all women do is pull hair and hiss, but these gals will take on anything that moves, and in most cases, kick butt while they're doing it.

Mixed martial arts these days, including women's mixed martial arts, are designed with various weight classes and involve serious training. Since the late 1990s, rules ensuring the safety of competitors and contestants have helped to launch women's mixed martial arts to a level of competition that comes close to the popularity of man's mixed martial arts events and competitions. While mixed martial arts have been around for hundreds of years, the popularity of televised sporting events on pay-per-view has propelled the sport into a multi-billion dollar industry around the world.

Many people don't realize that Bruce Lee, one of the greatest Asian martial arts fighters in the world had a lot to do with the popularity of mixing various martial art techniques and styles. While there are fewer women's mixed martial arts professionals than men, they can certainly provide as much action and power as anybody wanting to see two women fight can hope for.
